Eric Ravilious: Grill Room. Colour lithograph. Preliminary design for High Street, 1937. 245 x 180mm. Ravilious first 3 experiments for High Street were published in Signature in March 1937. As can be seen from the published image of the 1938 High Street plate attached, the design underwent some marked colour changes, and there has been alterations to the type of shading on the worktops. This print benefits from its larger page format, giving it the wide margins that are lacking in the book prints. As less of these prints were issued than the book ones, they are scarcer too.
